Welcome to 4JP of the SP Knights website.  I’d like to thank all of the Knights family & friends for all of your support in Jakey’s fight with Cystic Fibrosis.  Here, you will find the latest information on CF and current events.  You may also get more information on Cystic Fibrosis at www.cff.org.  We thank you in advance for making such a difference in JP’s life and the spirit you give him.  Go Knights!!

It has truly been a wonderful year for JP.  As you know he participated in the drug research program early this year.  He continues to strive to stay healthy through actively playing basketball, skateboarding, and his new sport surfing. 

Not too long ago, CF has found that the salt water is very helpful in loosening up the mucus in their lungs. There is already a FDA approved drug called hypertonic saline which is equivalent to the ocean water (very salty). Recently, JP was one of few patients asked by Children’s Hospital LA to participate in the most recent surfing event in Santa Monica.  Pro Surfers came out for the day to teach the CF kids how to surf so they may learn to enjoy the waters and also get a natural treatment out of it.  Also, JP was interviewed on Good Day LA along with couple other CF kids last month.  Our hope is to bring much awareness to the community as well as to all of the CF families about this new intervention. 

Our hope always has been to give JP all that he needs to stay healthy and live a normal life.  I think at the most part we have accomplished that.  Now we are working with JP to learn to take accountability for his own life by doing his treatments daily on his own.  It’s a working process because JP like any other child wants to go play with friends instead of sitting and doing treatments.  But as a mother, I can’t ask for a better son like JP who just has so much love and patience and who puts up with his daily medications and treatments.

Also, I want to thank all of the Knights for your participation in the Great Strides walk this past May.  It was such an exciting and overwhelming day with all of our Knights wearing our Jakey’s Knights team t-shirts.  I also have exciting news…….our team was able to surpass our goal of $5000.   We were able to raise $5633.00 for our team.  Thank you so much for all of your support and contributions!!  So many of you came out on a Saturday to support JP and support the cause.  Thank you!!
