It's getting warm in our little Knights World! Must be because our Knight's Team OhZone of the Boys 4th is SO HOT! How hot are they? Well, Coach Bob Oh had a game conflict and had to coach the Boys 6th Black. That left Coach Marcos Pena all alone to coach the OhZoners against the monsters from AVAC. Was the P-Man intimidated? Did the OhZone crack? Guess not. Coach Marcos and the boys made it into Knights legend by scoring a surprising and satisfying one point WIN against AVAC! Bring on some adversity and bring on some pressure. Boys 4th-Rah! Congrats to Coach Marcos and to Coach Oh for bringing the Boys 4th home with a sparkling 3-1 record for the weekend in the biggest tournament on the West Coast. Way to hang tough boys!
If you didn't know it before, know it now...we are all so proud of you! The Junkyard Dogs were out howling again. Up against an new, improved AVAC team, our Doggies were undersized but not underloved. When the smoke had cleared, our JYD's gave em a scare and lost by 6. After taking a two hour rest, our boys looked up and who should be standing in their way now but the boys from SGV, complete with their very own Goliath. How big was this guy? If you took Too Good, Iceman, and Showtime and stood them one on top of the other; the SGV boy would still be taller and would certainly weigh more. Did that deter our JYD's? GGN. (Good Gracious, No) Spotting SGV a halftime lead, the doggs came roaring back in the second half to score a resounding 3 point victory. Sunday brought two highly ranked teams but the KnightDogs played both of them tough. What is known throughout state is the fact that our Boys 3rd has absolutely NO HEIGHT. One big guy and watch out!
Once the Bad Dog reaches into the Sugar Pot and starts recruiting, I am sure
that the JYD's will be a hard group to beat.
For the PCB boys (Boys 7th), Coach Mike has posted the scores onto the
PLANETROUNDBALL.COM MEN'S FORUMS. Next travel trip up will be the Oceanside/Carlsbad excursion the weekend of April 26-27 and the SoCal Motion tournament. After that, it is off to Santa Barbara for the Page Youth Center championships the weekend of May 17-18. Then, it is back to the Antelope Valley for the AVAC Summer Championships the weekend of June 21-22. Finally, our own...ta-da!...The BAD BOYZ AT THE BEACH tournament here in San Pedro. For the Oceanside/Carlsbad tournament, it is really suggested that you reserve a Friday-Saturday stay as the games will be mid-morning, early afternoon starts. As we all found out last year, the traffic is really, really bad going to San Diego on a Saturday morning. Among the horror stories last year was 3-4 hour traffic jams just to get to Camp Pendleton. Once again, the hotel of choice is the Courtyard Marriott in Carlsbad. If you wish to get the rate of $115 per night (for queen-queen) plus 4 per room breakfast ($11.95 per person saving), you MUST let your team coordinator know you will booking a Friday-Saturday stay asap so we can sign the contract with the number of rooms we will be requesting. This rate for the San Diego area is a great one for a such a hotel and we will not be able to secure more rooms with this deal once the initial booking is done. Please let your coordinator know so we can make the arrangements. See you all somewhere. |
