DO KNIGHTS AND PIRATES MIX?

If the events of the past few days are any indication, they do!

Coach Roman Brink of the San Pedro High Girls Varsity has asked if I would like to get involved in the Girls Varsity program as an staff assistant varsity coach.

As you all know, I left the high school coaching ranks a few years ago to concentrate on building the Knights program.
I have been incredibly fortunate to have been a part of the Pacific Hills program that won 4 C.I.F. championships in 5 years and 1 State Championship.

I have been incredibly fortunate to see a former Knights and Pacific Hills player who I coached both as a youth player and a high school player; become a teacher and the Head Varsity Boys Coach at Pacific Hills.

I have been incredibly fortunate to see the "little San Pedro Knights" grow into one of the largest and one of the more respected travel clubs in the state.

I have been incredibly fortunate to know each and every one of you and your wonderful children.

The Lord has indeed blessed me.

Now, it just feels right to try and work with Coach Roman to bring something back to THIS town in the form of a well respected high school program for the girls of this community.

Considering that our own Knights players such as Jasmine, Lindsey, and Mariah are already two year starters on the Varsity and Rebecca and Jaffy joined them this year as freshmen (!) and more Knights (Raven) are on the way; I have decided to join the staff for next season.

Coach Roman has done a masterful job with the program so far, bringing it to respectability in a mere two years. There are great prospects all through the program and the future is incredibly bright.

Now let's add a little Knights Magic and see what happens!

The SPHS girls program will now be welcome at our weekly clinics and will begin to travel with us to our tournament destinations.

Let's everyone make sure to give them all our famous Knights welcome and make them feel at home.

Knights and Pirates.

Looks to be a formidable combination.

The Girls Varsity Basketball Program will have it's Annual Basketball Banquet on Saturday, April 12, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel here in San Pedro.

Any of you who might wish to attend, please let Dan know and he can give you all the information you need.

I hope to see some of you there.

Speaking of high school happenings; the first South Bay Elite AAU High School team was recently picked. Among the members of the team who made the cut were our own: Anthony Pinto, Victor Roman, and Vinay Parmar.

This is the first year for this AAU Elite Tournaments team and for three of our Knights to be a part of it speaks well for our program and our boys.

Congratulations Knights, as we all share in your accomplishments.

Could everyone please try and clear your calendars for the Great Strides-Cystic Fibrosis 5K Walk in Santa Monica on Saturday, May 10?

TEAM JAKEY'S KNIGHTS will be walking to show our support for our own Jake "JP" Pena.

Last year, our team was one of the largest.

This year, we are trying to erase any doubts how much we all support JP by being the LARGEST TEAM BY FAR.

There is a free lunch and free drinks for all participants and entertainment and an educational experience of what Cystic Fibrosis is and how to fight it.

The Knights will be designing shirts for sale to wear the day of the Walk.

These will be made to order and there will be no extras. As the shirts of last year are our own "collector's items", you will not want to be left out 4JP.

Naturally, all proceeds from the shirts will go to the 4JP fund.

Invite all of your friends, neighbors, and family.

It's all 4-J-P!
