I want to personally thank ALL of you who made the trek to Santa Monica for the Great Strides 10k Walk against Cystic Fibrosis.

It was soooooo great to see sooooo many Knights in one place. I know that the Foundation people were very pleased to see such a large team supporting the fight against C.F.

As I walked down to the beach, I was wondering if I could find you all in such a crowd.

Wow! Once I saw the beach, I couldn't help but notice the Sea of Gold that were the Knights. Do those 4JP/Jakey's Knights shirts stand out or what?

Special praise go out to JT of the Boys 8th and Darius of the Boys 4th for RUNNING the 10k course in it's entirety.

Every time I looked up, JT/Darius were buzzing by me going in the other direction.

Did everyone sign the shirt of JP?

Too Tall John Yule and Coach Jason of the Boys 7th came up with the idea that it would be nice if ALL Knights who made the Walk should sign the shirt of JP as a remembrance of the Day of the Knights Against Cystic Fibrosis.

Did JP look cool in his autographed shirt....darn right he did!

It was sooooo gratifying to see sooooo many Knights supporting one of our own.

I know that proud Momma Yumi and Proud Poppa Marcos, not to mention Marcos Jr., Ashley, and JP really appreciated all the participation.

I know I did. Kinda made me wanna cry.

Even the SpinDog, Coach Ed and the 3rd grade team made it to the beach and they had a 9:00 am game at North Hollywood High!

Glad to report that the Junkyard Dogs (JYDs) won that ARC league game and are in the finals again.

Such is the family feeling that exists on the Knights.

You guys are just the greatest!

ANYWAY, the festivities 4JP are just beginning for our club.

Stay tuned and you will be receiving through your coordinators information on the 4JP Fundraiser that will benefit JP directly from the Knights.

We will obtain either Peninsula High or Torrance High and have a Knights Day of Fun with such events as a MOMS GAME (Over 22 Moms have already signed up!), maaaaybe a DADS GAME (No experience preferred-Get ready Philip), and the famed JP Snack Bar, not to mention the infamous Cake Walk!

Other events by the players will also be included and I believe the SpinDog has arranged for South Bay Sports Cards to come and set up a silent auction with such items as signed Kobe balls and other really neat stuff.

An old friend of the Knights, Ian Allen and his son Scott, are the owners and are really great people. That should be fun and a chance to really pick up some really memorable merchandise. Get your checkbook ready Ken because I know Kenji will REALLY get you this time for MORE than just the Kobe ball he got you for in Palm Springs!

There are a lot of really neat things being planned so let's just get ready to rumble.

Our Boys 8th team just finished a 3 DAY VARSITY LEVEL TRYOUT CAMP that Coach Gary Duperron of North Torrance High School consented to giving our players as they prepare to test themselves in their respective FRESHMAN summer high school programs in June.

Just so they could see what they would be up against in the very near future; Coach Duperron worked our boys just as hard as he would his own VARSITY team.

Just so you can get an idea of what they were up against...

One basic rule of high school ball- IF YOU ARE ON TIME, YOU ARE ALREADY LATE.

Second basic rule: NO PARENTS ALLOWED IN THE GYM DURING WORKOUT.

Third basic rule: PARENTS AND PLAYERS CAN HAVE AN OPINION, BUT NOBODY CARES WHAT IT IS.

Anyone showing up late could not participate in the workout. Instead, the late player was given a broom and a mop and was told to use them both for the two hours the other players were practicing.

WELCOME TO HIGH SCHOOL BALL!

I am very proud to announce to you all that our boys not only survived, but impressed the heck out of Coach Duperron with their work ethic and their ability to go through it all without one complaint or comment.

They took everything he could throw at them and asked for more!

I am sooooo very proud of them all...all Knights should be too!

I hope you are all ready to take on the next few month's grueling tournament schedule.
