Plyo is moving! Due to the many requests that I have received, beginning Monday, June 2, plyometrics will move to Mondays from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm and will stay in it's original spot on Thursdays from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. If there are no tournaments or special events, there will be another session on Sundays at Torrance Beach-Avenue i from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Any Sunday sessions will be announced through e-mail or given at the Thursday session.
Please refer to the e-mail sent that was forwarded to you by your team
coordinators.
I have seen very dramatic results that have been achieved by the boys and
girls who are participants in this program. For the plyo program, Manny Saenzpardo has used knowledge to bring really dramatic results to our program. To see some of the physical feats that our own Boys 3rd Junkyard Dogs showcase every time they move, it is indeed a wonder that more don't take advantage of this opportunity. There is no more avid lover of this program than Doggie Showtime Billings. He absolutely refuses to miss a session and his nickname can give you a clue to the things he is doing on the court. Strength, quickness, speed! Can you imagine what people will call him when he grows up? Doggone Good that's what! His dream is to play in the Galen Center. Anyone want to bet against him?
Wow! Coach SpinDog Billings and our own TooTall Yule have a vision. That is to bring the structure and the energy of the Knights to the youth of the South Bay to learn the game they so love...GOLF! To this end, SpinDog and TooTall have secured clubs, balls, and our very own golf pro, Russ Fraser, to call our own. All to properly teach our basketball Knights and, hopefully, our new Golf Knights this Game of Kings. Hey, college and golf are the two major factors that contribute to success in the business world. Why not give our boys the best of everything now? I mean it's no worse than foxtrotting for Cotillion.
As for Russ, SpinDog tells me that he has been asked to place a Golf
Academy-type learning center at Redondo High.
WELL...with Russ a Knight of the Realm, we will be looking good to have the
attention of the head man when we show up to do our thing. Remember, this course is designed for FUN and for golfers who don't golf. This is one tiny step above a miniature golf course, so NOBODY be afraid of it. We need pairs of golfers; one adult, one player. We also need main dishes to share with one another when we retire to the clubhouse and banquet room and have a good 'ol fashioned Father's Day lunch with our fellow Knights and listen to Russ and SpinDog about the particulars of the new golf program.
For all the info, go to the website and click on the KNIGHTS GOLF CLUB
module. The plan is to have a series of tournaments that DO NOT conflict with our regular Knights business of basketball. Another special part of the plan is to coordinate an ADULTS team of Knights to play against the other club's ADULTS.
Regular competitions to coincide with the youth Knights golfers.
You betcha! TEAM CAPTAIN: Ed Billings John Yule Mike Farman
How about some of you Golfer Moms to defend our honor against those "other"
moms? Can each Knights team produce enough parents to have a Moms-Dads softball team? In keeping with the idea that NO travel club is as clumping as we are, we will try to do things besides the b-ball thing and try to get everyone involved. Once each team reports in, we will plan to have a softball weekend so each team can play each other. You know...Boys 3rd vs. Boys 4th. Boys 6th vs. Boys 7th. Boys 8th vs. Girls 8th...and then mix and match some games.. all games centered around a killer barbeque for all. Summer is fast approaching so let's set this one up. NO PLAYERS ALLOWED that are not parents of a Knight so the pressure is on each and every one of you to participate or your team may not have enough to field a team. ALL WILL PLAY. If there are 20 people in the field, so be it. 20 people will bat.
It's going to be a blast...be there! Are all you Moms signing up to play in the MOMS GAME? If we have enough, I will declare one week of MOMS festivities and give the MOMS two nights of practice with coaches to coach them. Sign up now with Drea Billings so we can get moving on this. Can we get a Division 2 DADS game going also? DADS with NO EXPERIENCE are this year's goal. We have never had this type of game before, so it's the logical thing to do. The good news is...we got a lot of dads who are basketball playing challenged! The game is Saturday, June 14...Moms and Dads.
Let's get ready to rumble. |
