The Fearsome Oh-Zone!

The best kept secret in Knightsville seems to be the exploits of the Knights Boys 4th.

Well, let's make that a secret no more!

Tournament in and tournament out, the Oh-Zoners of Coach Bob Oh keep piling up tournament wins and tournament titles.

This past weekend was no different as our Knights raged and ransacked throughout the city of Long Beach to a third tournament title in the past four tournaments entered!

All Knights should be darn proud of each and every player on our Boys 4th who plays in the Oh-Zone, that rarified air and space that Coach Bob and Coach MarcosP has created and led them to.

This past tournament showed how really deadly they have become.

In a supposed semi-final NOTHING game with Rim2Rim (our boys had already qualified for the final AGAINST Rim2Rim), Coach Oh was relaxing and experimenting for the upcoming final.

Our Knightsters were playing with their usual zeal, but Coach Oh was pacing them along, not letting them get too far ahead of themselves emotionally.

At halftime, the score showed our Knights down by 2.

AT HALFTIME, the tournament directors told both coaches that THIS game should be for the title!

Reluctantly, both coaches agreed. RELUCTANTLY.

What happened?

Once Coach Oh told the team that THIS game was for the title (and we are now losing a championship game), the Boys of the Knights Fab Fourth flew into the Oh-Zone at hyper speed.

As soon as the second half began, our Knights went on a scoring binge that wiped out the Rimmers lead and ultimately took this "now" championship game and turned it into a ho-hum affair and a Knights celebration party.

Our FearsomeFabledFabFavesFourth brought the trophy back to San Pedro easily and restored order in the universe by letting everyone know who rules the 4th grade division in the South Bay.

Honor to the Brave.

Glory to the Brave.

The next two tournaments in Lancaster and San Pedro should be grueling tests for this team as both are considered MAJOR championships, as both will have a large field of contestants.

No problem.

The Knights Fab Fourth is a secret no longer.

Immortality awaits in the Oh-Zone for the Fab Fourth!

Our Knights of the Boys 6th Gold also once again had a strong showing.

These gallant Knights of Coach Brad Kojaku also romped their way to a title game.

Playing shorthanded, the Knights Golden Ones still provided the dubious and controversial ones from Rim2Rim with all they could handle in the championship game.

Is there a more committed coach to his team than Coach K?

Coach K has already faced his toughest opponent. The past year has seen him stage a battle against cancer without a whimper, without a complaint. All the while never missing a coaching assignment, never letting his team or the Knights down.

Will a mere couple of "older" 6th graders in a championship game phase him?

No.

Will a mere mini-controversy phase him?

No.

Happily, Coach K is a winner.

That life battle won, who can scare or intimidate him on a mere basketball court?

Only the thought of ME coaching HIS team and messing everything up with HIS players causes him fear.

I mean he thinks so much of me and what I think that he made the supreme sacrifice and took me to lunch at McDonalds for a burger (no cheese).

Where's Philip, Tammie, Dave and Tracy when you need them?

Probably in Big Bear.

Great job again Gold.

Great job again, my friend.

Hopefully, the Girls 8th, the Boys 8th, and the Boys 6th Black will have writeups on the Sports Page so you may all read about those team's exploits, which were just as well fought as the above team's efforts.

C'mon team reporters.

Don't let the players on those teams go without notice.

It will be reported that the new players that were added to all of our teams deserve a big Knights WELCOME.

Sooooo.... nice to have you Leighton (Boys 7th), Ryan (Boys 8th) and John (Boys 8th), and a long overdue WELCOME to Evan (Boys 4th).

Nice to have back Jordan (Boys 7th) from a leave of absence, Nate-Dogg (Boys 3rd) from a broken wrist, and Chris (Boys 3rd) from a leave of absence.

Commendations for Courage go out to our Boys 5th graders playing on our Boys 6th teams: Kurt (Boys 6th Black), Nick (Boys 6th Black), and Michael (Boys 6th Gold)

Life and basketball do get tougher when the opponents are all 1-2-3(!) years older than you are.

Lastly...there is a rumour out there that JORDAN (Boys 8th) hugged his father GREG, in front of his team and team parents!

Wow!

Must've been something he ate.
